Description

DD SuperLight A-Frame Mesh Tent – Lightweight Mesh Tent for Use Under a Tarp

The DD SuperLight A-Frame Mesh Tent is a lightweight bug mesh tent designed for use under a tarp. It acts as a separate bug-proof inner tent while the tarp provides weather protection. This setup suits backpackers looking for a lighter alternative to a traditional double-wall tent.

The tent weighs just 730 g, excluding pegs and guylines. It is pitched using two hiking poles, eliminating the need to carry dedicated tent poles. Hiking poles are not included.

The interior measures 200 × 130 × 110 cm. The manufacturer states that the tent accommodates two people. While the width is sufficient for two minimalist campers, a solo backpacker will benefit from noticeably more living space and room for gear.

Why choose a lightweight mesh tent for use under a tarp?

The ultra-fine bug mesh keeps out even very small insects, making it well suited to environments with mosquitoes and biting midges. Three separate entrances improve access, allowing each occupant to enter and exit without climbing over the other.

The 3,000 mm PU-coated ripstop nylon floor and taped seams help prevent ground moisture from entering the tent. Because the canopy is entirely bug mesh, the tent requires a tarp for rain protection.

Who it’s for

Who it’s not for

  • Anyone looking for a standalone waterproof tent

Can the tent be used without a tarp?

Yes, in dry weather. The mesh canopy provides excellent insect protection but does not protect against rain.

Do I need hiking poles?

Yes. The tent is designed to be pitched using two hiking poles or poles of a similar height. Hiking poles are not included.

Can it be pitched without hiking poles?

Yes. Separate tent poles or any suitable supports of the correct height can be used instead.

How many people does it fit?

The manufacturer rates the mesh tent for two people. In practice, it offers a comfortable amount of space for one camper, while two minimalist backpackers can also use it comfortably, with most of their gear stored under the tarp.

Our thoughts

If you already use a tarp with your hammock, the same tarp will often work equally well with this mesh tent. This allows one shelter to serve multiple camping setups without adding the weight of a separate outer tent.
