Haven Safari combines a hammock, tent, bug net, rainfly and insulated sleeping pad into one complete system. Thanks to Haven’s Lay-Flat design, the sleeping position is much more bed-like than in a traditional hammock. According to the manufacturer, Safari can be used for sleeping on your back, side or stomach, making this flat hammock particularly suitable for side sleepers.

Haven Safari differs from a traditional hammock thanks to its patented Lay-Flat Design. In a conventional hammock, the sleeper rests in the curve created by the fabric. In Haven Safari, the spreader bars and the specially designed True Level sleeping pad create a wider and flatter sleeping surface.

The True Level Safari Insulated sleeping pad is an essential part of the hammock tent structure. It supports the shape of the body and helps create Haven’s characteristic flat sleeping position. The sleeping pad measures 203 × 76 cm, providing plenty of room for side sleeping and changing position during the night.

A bed-like hammock for side sleepers

One of the key advantages of Haven Safari is the ability to sleep in a straighter, more bed-like position than in a conventional hammock. This makes it an attractive option for users who do not find the curved sleeping position of a traditional hammock comfortable.

A hammock tent for side sleepers needs enough width and a stable sleeping surface. Safari offers a 76 cm wide True Level pad, making it easier to turn onto your side and change sleeping position during the night.

Complete sleep system – just add your sleeping bag or quilt

Haven Safari includes the complete hammock tent sleep system. The package contains the hammock tent, True Level Safari Insulated sleeping pad, green Canopy rainfly, integrated bug net, spreader bars, suspension components, guy lines, stakes and pump sack.

All you need to add is a sleeping bag or quilt suitable for the temperatures in which you plan to camp.

True Level Safari Insulated R5.3 sleeping pad

This Haven Safari configuration includes the True Level Safari Insulated R5.3 sleeping pad. It is designed specifically for the Safari model and works together with the hammock body to create a wide and stable sleeping platform.

The R-value of 5.3 provides good insulation underneath the sleeper. Bottom insulation is especially important in hammock camping because moving air beneath the hammock can cause significant heat loss.

Canopy rainfly for weather protection

Haven Safari comes in this configuration with a green Canopy rainfly. The Safari rainfly is made from durable 300D polyester canvas and has a manufacturer-stated waterproof rating of 4000 mm.

The rainfly measures approximately 299 × 205 cm. It can be pitched lower in wet and windy conditions or left more open in fair weather.

Integrated bug net and spacious interior

The Haven Safari hammock tent has an integrated bug net that helps protect the sleeper from insects. The spreader bars hold the netting and shelter fabric away from the body, creating a more spacious interior than a traditional hammock.

The 76 cm wide and 203 cm long sleeping pad provides plenty of room for side sleepers and makes changing sleeping position during the night easier.

Setting up the Haven Safari hammock tent

Haven Safari is suspended between two sufficiently strong trees or other safe anchor points. The suspension system is designed so that the hammock tent can be set up without a conventional tent frame.

The manufacturer states a minimum distance of approximately 295 cm between the hammock end loops. The included tree straps are 182 cm long.

Haven Safari or Haven Tent XL?

Haven Safari is a more robust option than Haven Tent XL. Safari uses heavier-duty materials and has a higher maximum load capacity. The hammock body is made from 300D polyester, while the Safari rainfly is made from 300D polyester canvas.

Safari is particularly suitable for users who prioritise durability, stability and bed-like sleeping comfort over low weight. If minimum packed weight is the main priority, Haven Tent XL is the lighter alternative.

Versatile additional features

The Haven hammock offers several practical features for outdoor use. The integrated bug net helps protect against insects, while the Lounge Strap allows the Haven to be used in a more upright sitting and relaxing position.

In good weather, the hammock tent can also be used without the rainfly, leaving the bug net in place while creating a more open sleeping environment.

Using the Haven Safari hammock tent on the ground

Haven Safari hammock tent can also be used on the ground in a bivy-style setup when suitable trees are not available. This increases its versatility in open terrain or campsites where hammock suspension is not possible.
