Description

Camping Hammock with Structural Ridgeline – Sirius 3 Hammock

The Sirius 3 is a 330 cm asymmetric camping hammock with an integrated mosquito net and an adjustable structural ridgeline. Its defining feature is not the weight or the list of accessories. It is sleeping comfort.

Most camping hammocks on the market are between 270 and 300 cm long. Shorter hammocks create a steeper lay, leaving your back more curved and your shoulders with less room to relax.

At 330 cm, the Sirius 3 allows a much flatter diagonal lay. Sleeping diagonally lets your back straighten naturally, opens up shoulder room and makes the hammock feel less like a sling and more like a proper bed.

For many experienced hammock campers, this improvement in comfort is more valuable than saving a few hundred grams. The Sirius 3 was built with that goal in mind.

Why does 330 cm make such a difference?

People do not normally sleep straight down the centre of a gathered-end hammock. The most comfortable position is a diagonal lay, where your body rests at an angle across the hammock.

A longer hammock creates a shallower diagonal, resulting in a flatter sleeping position.

In practice, this means:

  • A straighter back
  • Less pressure behind the knees
  • More room for your shoulders
  • Easier side sleeping
  • Fewer position changes during the night

Many users moving from a standard-length hammock are surprised by how significant the difference feels.

Asymmetrical design

The Sirius 3 is intentionally asymmetrical. It is designed to be used with your head on the left and your feet on the right, creating the intended diagonal sleeping position.

The shape naturally guides you into the correct lay without constantly adjusting your position. The asymmetrical cut is not simply a design feature. It helps create a flatter and more comfortable sleeping position.

Adjustable structural ridgeline

The adjustable structural ridgeline runs from one end of the hammock to the other. Its purpose is to maintain the same hammock shape, even when tree spacing or suspension height changes.

Once adjusted, the hammock feels remarkably consistent from campsite to campsite. This makes setup easier, especially for new hammock campers.

The ridgeline is intentionally supplied longer than its final working length. Before first use, it should be adjusted to suit your preferred setup. A good starting point is approximately 83% of the hammock body length. A ridgeline that is too long can pull the mosquito net tighter than intended and reduce comfort.

The ridgeline is made from 3.5 mm UHMWPE and comes pre-installed.

40D ripstop nylon

The hammock body is made from 40D ripstop nylon with a PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR) finish.

A 40D fabric sits between ultralight 20–30D materials and heavier-duty hammock fabrics. The goal is not the lowest possible weight but a balance between durability, comfort and packability.

Complete weight is approximately 680 g, including the stuff sack.

Compared with minimalist hammocks, the Sirius 3 weighs slightly more. In return, it includes an integrated bug net, adjustable structural ridgeline, ridgeline organiser, Bishop bag and several features that make everyday use easier.

Built for mosquito season

The integrated bug net uses fine polyester B3 no-see-um mesh. It helps keep out mosquitoes as well as smaller insects such as biting midges.

The dark mesh provides noticeably better visibility from inside the hammock than lighter-coloured mesh, making the interior feel more open during daytime use.

A double-sided YKK #5 zipper allows entry from either direction. Glow-in-the-dark silicone zipper pulls make it easier to find and operate the zippers at night.

Side pull-outs

Optional side pull-out points widen the hammock around the shoulders and lower legs.

Their purpose is not to tension the fabric but to create a more spacious interior and move the bug net farther away from your face.

The pull-outs are completely optional and can be used or omitted depending on personal preference, campsite conditions or whether an underquilt is installed.

Bishop bag and ridgeline organiser

The Sirius 3 comes with a spacious double-ended Bishop bag. This allows the hammock to be packed or deployed without laying it on the ground, making setup faster in rain, cold weather or areas with heavy insect activity.

A ridgeline organiser provides convenient storage for a phone, headlamp, glasses, power bank and other small essentials.

Why aren’t suspension straps included?

The Sirius 3 does not include tree straps or suspension.

This is a deliberate choice. Hammock campers use a wide variety of suspension systems, including daisy chain straps, Whoopie Slings, Dyneema suspensions and other lightweight solutions. Including one suspension system would mean many users paying for equipment they would never use.

Instead, you can choose the suspension that best matches your own camping style.

Who is it for?

  • Campers who value sleeping comfort over the absolute lowest weight
  • Three-season hammock camping
  • Users looking for the comfort of a 330 cm hammock and a flatter diagonal lay
  • Anyone wanting a complete hammock with integrated bug net and structural ridgeline

Who is it not for?

  • Ultralight hikers looking for the lightest possible hammock
  • Users who want a fully removable bug net
  • Buyers whose main priority is the lowest purchase price
  • Casual users looking primarily for a daytime lounging hammock

Our thoughts

Many new hammock campers underestimate how much hammock length affects sleeping comfort. First experiences often come from hammocks around 270–300 cm long, where users tend to lie almost in line with the hammock. This often leaves the back more curved and increases pressure behind the knees.

The Sirius 3 is designed for a true diagonal lay. Its 330 cm length, asymmetrical shape and adjustable structural ridgeline work together to make finding a flatter sleeping position much easier.

That is why the Sirius 3’s greatest strength is not its weight or individual features. It is the ability to provide a better night’s sleep.

21 reviews for Trekking Hammock Sirius 330 cm long | Majava

1-5 of 21 reviews

Toinen juttu on kiinteän hyttysverkon jalkopäähän jäävän vetoketjun sulkeminen.

  3. Laadukas ja hyvä tuote!

  4. Loistava
