Ultralight 1-Person Tarp Simplex Tarp XL Liteway

Ultralight 1-person tarp Liteway Simplex Tarp XL offers generous coverage at a very low weight. With approximately 5.2 m² of shelter area and a weight of only around 235 g, it is well suited to lightweight backpacking, hiking and minimalist solo camping.

Simplex Tarp XL measures approximately 274 × 190 cm. Its rectangular shape and catenary cut allow several pitching configurations, including a traditional A-frame and a half-pyramid or Holden-style shelter.

Ultralight tarp for one person

Simplex Tarp XL provides more coverage than the smallest minimalist solo tarps while still keeping weight exceptionally low. The approximately 5.2 m² surface area gives enough room for one sleeper and some gear.

It is particularly suitable for hikers who want a very lightweight and simple rain shelter without tent poles, an integrated floor or a fixed inner tent.

Several pitching options

The rectangular construction makes the tarp highly versatile. It can be pitched in several different ways, including:

• A-frame for a classic ridgeline shelter
• Half-pyramid or Holden-style pitch for increased side protection
• A lower pitch for windier conditions
• A more open shelter when ventilation and visibility are a priority

The tarp can be pitched with trekking poles, suspended between trees or supported using another suitable setup.

Catenary cut for a taut pitch

Simplex Tarp XL uses a catenary cut. The curved edges are designed to help the fabric tension more evenly and reduce flapping when the tarp is pitched correctly.

All eight main attachment points have WJ adjusters, allowing the guylines to be tightened quickly without having to untie knots.

Seamless construction

The current Simplex Tarp XL uses a seamless construction. This simplifies the shelter and removes the centre seam found on many traditional tarps.

The lack of a centre seam also helps keep the overall weight low and reduces the number of structural points that would otherwise require additional seam sealing.

Silpoly 20D Ripstop 2000 mm

The tarp is made from lightweight 1.1 oz Silpoly 20D Ripstop with a stated waterproof rating of 2000 mm.

Silpoly is silicone-coated polyester designed for lightweight outdoor shelters. The ripstop construction improves tear resistance while keeping the fabric very light and compact.

UHMW PE guylines

Simplex Tarp XL is supplied with lightweight UHMW PE guylines. The material is strong, very light and has low stretch, helping the tarp maintain good tension throughout the night.

Compatible with Biggie Mesh 2P

Liteway recommends pairing Simplex Tarp XL with the Biggie Mesh 2P mesh inner. Together they form a lightweight double-wall solo shelter system, with the tarp providing weather protection and the mesh inner protecting against insects.

The mesh inner is sold separately and is not included with Simplex Tarp XL.
