Cumulus Selva 450 Down Underquilt for Hammocks

The Selva 450 underquilt is an oval-shaped, three-season down underquilt (also known as underquilt or underblanket) designed for hammock camping. It can also be used as a lightweight sleeping bag or a top quilt inside the hammock. The underquilt features an H-baffle construction, which provides significantly better insulation than sewn-through designs. It contains 10 individual down-filled chambers.

Thoughtfully designed construction

The H-baffle structure, combined with a differential cut (where the inner and outer fabrics are different sizes), ensures that the down stays evenly distributed, minimizing cold spots. Compared to the lighter sewn-through Selva 120, this model offers significantly enhanced insulation. Ten longitudinal baffles filled with down reduce down migration, and the quilt should be fluffed regularly to maintain performance.

Please note when setting up the underquilt that one end is slightly wider—this end should be placed on the head side.

High-Quality Fabric – Pertex® Quantum DWR

Pertex® Quantum DWR is a lightweight, durable, and windproof technical fabric designed for outdoor and camping gear. The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment makes the fabric water-resistant, preventing moisture from entering and improving weather resistance. This fabric offers an excellent balance between low weight, durability, and breathability, making it an ideal material for down underquilts. It is also tightly woven to prevent down from escaping through the fabric.

The Selva 450 is filled with certified ethical Polish goose down with a fill power of 850 cuin. This high-quality down offers outstanding thermal efficiency and compressibility, making it ideal for hammock underquilts. The quality of the down ensures that the Selva 450 retains its warmth and lightness over time, even when exposed to moisture or extended use.
Cumulus sources its down responsibly, ensuring it comes from free-range geese with access to water and that the production process meets strict ethical and environmental standards.

Easy-to-Use and Adjustable Suspension System

One of the Selva 450’s most notable features is its ease of use. The product includes shock cord to create suspension systems at both ends. The cord is cut in half, and each end is threaded through the buckles located at the quilt’s short ends. The underquilt is then attached to the hammock’s suspension using these shock cords.

Plenty of Attachment Loops

Along the long sides, there are five attachment loops, allowing the underquilt to be hung up for airing or drying. These loops can also be used to run the shock cords along the quilt’s sides and secure it to the hammock’s suspension with carabiners. This setup allows you to adjust the position of the underquilt without getting out of the hammock.
