Why Use an Underquilt?
When sleeping in a hammock, body weight compresses sleeping bags and clothing, reducing their insulation. Cold seeps in from below and the sides—precisely where warmth is most needed. An underquilt hangs beneath the hammock, avoiding compression and creating a warm air layer around the body—a “thermal bubble.”
Construction & Insulation
The β-baffle design resembles a sideways “B” and enhances insulation especially around the shoulders, back, and hips. The baffle “bellies” press against each other, tightening the structure and improving heat retention. Lab tests show this design insulates better than traditional H-baffles using the same amount of down.
Comfort & Adjustability
- Setup takes just 1.5 minutes.
- Can be adjusted while lying down.
- The quilt can be reversed for warmer conditions.
- End cinch channels block cold air and create 3D foot and shoulder boxes.
- Underquilt buckles—a small but impactful detail—lift the quilt edges snugly against the hammock. Their position can be fine-tuned for optimal lift.
Down Quality & Responsibility
- Ethically sourced 800 CUIN Polish goose down.
- From free-range geese with water access.
- Production meets ethical and environmental standards.
Temperature Guidelines
Recommendations are based on user feedback, test groups, and over 30 years of expertise. Individual comfort may vary. Always pair with a suitable sleeping bag or top quilt and a warm base layer. The underquilt does not replace a sleeping bag.
