Description

Ultralight Tent for two – PyraOmm Plus Tarp ULTRA Liteway

Ultra-light tarp tent for the lightweight hiker. The PyraOmm Plus Tarp ULTRA combines lightness, windproofness and good interior space. The tarp tent has two separate zippered entrances with water-repellent zippers. This model is designed for two people, but can accommodate three if necessary. The Trappi tent has a surface area of 5.5 square metres.

The poles needed to set up the tent

The PyraOmm Plus Tarp ULTRA can be pitched with one or two poles. If the tent is pitched with one pole, it is mounted in the middle of the tarp. The length of the pole must be 160 cm.

When pitching with two poles, a separately sold accessory is required. This is called the A-frame connector, it connects the poles to each other with a ridge on the A-frame, so the poles do not get in the way inside the tarp tent.

When pitching a PyraOmm Plus Tarp Tent on an A-model, the length of your walking stick + the length of the Aframe connector must be approx. 180-185 cm in total. That is, the minimum length of the pole should be 150 cm, in which case you should choose the longest one, i.e. the 35 cm A-frame Connector.

Need for wedges

The manufacturer recommends a minimum of 4 wedges (wedges are not included). However, we recommend using 6 wedges. One for each corner and one for each door. Additional wedges will be required if windy weather is forecast, in which case it is advisable to wedge additional poles into the additional brackets on the sides of the tarp tent.

About the seams

The main seams of the Scout Tarp are glued so there is no need to seal them. Due to the material and the manufacturing process, some parts of the tent may have technical spots in different parts. The minimal number of sewn seams means that no additional seam sealing is required, unlike the Silpoly 20D 1.1 oz version.

Material from

UltraTNT™ is a lightweight and durable composite material consisting of two 0.25 mil PET film layers. It is ultra-lightweight and waterproof (does not absorb water). It is especially used in outdoor equipment such as tents. Although it is slightly heavier than Dyneema, it is a cheaper option and offers better durability in demanding conditions. In addition, the material softens in use, which improves its packability and manageability.

Available at

  1. Spread the fabric on the ground and secure the corners with wedges to form a rectangle
  2. Wedge the edges of the doors into the ground
  3. Position the walking stick (handle upwards) from the inside of the tarp to the top of the tent (160 cm long)
  4. Adjust the tent to stand upright with the tensioning buckles
  5. If necessary, add more pegs and wedge them into the ground as well
