Apex Topquilt Poncho Ultralight Sleeper Topquilt — Liteway

Liteway’s Sleeper Topquilt is a versatile sleep system that can function as a top quilt, camp blanket or poncho. The weight varies by size and insulation thickness, ranging from about 580 g in size M to around 670 g in size XL for the 136 g/m² Climashield® APEX insulationliteway.equipment. With heavier 170 g/m² or 200 g/m² insulation, weights climb accordingly but remain light for their warmth.

What is a quilt/top quilt?

A quilt is similar to a sleeping bag but is open on the back, eliminating unnecessary insulation that gets compressed under your body and loses its insulating value. Quilts are typically around 20 % lighter than sleeping bags with comparable temperature ratings. They’re especially popular with hammock campers but are becoming common among general backpackers, too. Many find quilts less claustrophobic and easier to enter than traditional sleeping bags.

For use with a sleeping pad, the included elastic straps can attach the quilt to your pad or pull the edges together to create a mummy-style sleeping bag shape.

Materials

The Sleeper Quilt uses a lightweight yet durable 10D nylon shellliteway.equipment. The fill is Climashield® APEX, a high‑quality synthetic insulation. Although Apex is slightly heavier than down, it retains warmth when wet, resists clumping and lofts quickly after being unpacked.

Poncho Mode

One of this quilt’s unique features is its poncho capability. In the centre there’s a zip‑covered opening through which you can slip your head. Unzip, pull the quilt over your shoulders and use the elastic cords at the sides to secure it around your body for instant warmth.

Blanket Mode

Leave the footbox zipper open and the quilt can be used as a camp blanket. In this mode it’s roughly the same size as a standard home blanket.

Elastic Straps & Footbox

Small loops along the quilt’s long edges are designed for attaching the supplied adjustable elastic cords. These cords allow you to cinch the quilt around your back or around a sleeping pad. The top edge has a channel with a drawcord to seal out drafts. In this Apex version, the footbox is formed by closing the lower zipper and cinching it tight with an elastic cord.

Stuff Sack

The included stuff sack is made from fine mesh, so it doubles as a mosquito hood, gear bag or pillow when filled with clothing. A waterproof dry bag (at least 8 litres) is recommended for packing the quilt during transport.
