Whoopie Sling PRO hammock suspension makes adjusting the height and tension of your hammock quick and easy. The adjustable loops allow you to shorten or lengthen the suspension smoothly and precisely, even centimetre by centimetre. As long as there is no load on the whoopie sling, the adjustable section can be moved freely. As soon as weight is placed in the hammock, the sling locks in position and holds the adjustment.

Bushmen PRO Whoopie Slings are made from lightweight 3 mm UHMWPE cord. The complete pair weighs only around 30 g, making them an excellent choice for lightweight and ultralight hammock camping.

How to use Whoopie Slings

The short fixed loop is attached to the end of the hammock, either by threading it directly through the hammock end channel or by attaching it to an existing loop at the end of the hammock.

The long adjustable loop is usually connected with a carabiner to a tree hugger or suspension strap wrapped around the tree.

The hammock height and tension are adjusted by shortening or lengthening the long adjustable loop. The adjustment can only be made when the hammock is unloaded. As soon as weight is placed in the hammock, the whoopie sling locks securely in position.

The adjustable loop is fitted with a characteristic orange bead. The bead helps prevent the adjustable loop from accidentally disappearing into the bury section of the whoopie sling.

Dimensions and adjustment range

The two Whoopie Sling PRO cords have a combined total length of approximately 280 cm and a combined adjustment range of approximately 90–280 cm.

This corresponds to approximately 45–140 cm of adjustment per whoopie sling.

There is approximately 20 cm of free cord between the fixed loop and the adjustable section. This makes it possible to thread the fixed loop directly through the end channel of many hammocks.

How to attach a Whoopie Sling directly to a hammock

If your hammock has an end channel, you can thread the fixed loop of the Whoopie Sling PRO directly through it.

A large safety pin can be attached to the fixed loop to make threading easier. Guide the whoopie sling through the entire end channel with the safety pin. Once the fixed loop comes out at the other end, pass the remaining part of the whoopie sling completely through the fixed loop and tighten it around the gathered end of the hammock.

If the hammock end gathers too tightly with this method, you can instead use a separate fixed loop at the end of the hammock and attach the Whoopie Sling PRO to that loop.

PRO hooks for hanging gear

Bushmen Whoopie Sling PRO has useful hooks on the free ends of the suspension cords. Unlike conventional whoopie slings, the otherwise unused free ends can therefore also be used for hanging lightweight gear such as a backpack.

If the free ends are short, the hooks can be attached close to the main whoopie sling cords, creating two convenient loops for hanging luggage. Bushmen states that this setup can be used for luggage weighing up to approximately 10 kg.

If the free ends are long enough, they can be used to create a small hanging platform or “baby hammock” for a backpack. The free ends are passed through the backpack handle and shoulder straps, then hooked back onto the line to create supporting loops.

The manufacturer states that this type of setup can support a backpack weighing up to approximately 20 kg, provided the load is distributed correctly across both hooks and both lines. The maximum load for one individual hook is 5 kg.

Please note: always leave enough space between the hammock and a backpack suspended underneath it. When you lie down in the hammock, the hammock will sag lower, so the backpack must not press against the hammock or the person inside it.

Lightweight 3 mm UHMWPE cord

Whoopie Sling PRO is made from 3 mm UHMWPE cord. UHMWPE offers a very high strength-to-weight ratio and is well suited to lightweight hammock suspension systems.

The maximum static load specified by Bushmen for the pair of whoopie slings is approximately 700 kg total.
