M94 Loue 2-4 person FinnRover is a larger Finnish open-fire shelter from the FinnRover Wilderness Collection. Also known as the Corander model, the M94 is based on a four-person Loue design associated with Finnish outdoor skills instructor Nalle Corander.

The M94 is made from durable polyester fabric weighing approximately 130 g/m². The inner surface is silver-coated, and the attachment points are reinforced with leather. The complete Loue weighs approximately 2.5 kg and has a height of approximately 330 cm.

M94 Loue 2-4 person FinnRover – larger Finnish open-fire shelter

M94 Loue 2-4 person FinnRover provides more space than the standard 2-person FinnRover Loue models while retaining the traditional open-front construction.

A Loue is a Finnish open-front shelter recognised by its wedge-shaped front and curved rear section. The upper part can be suspended from a tree or supported with a pole, while the rear section is secured to the ground with stakes.

The open front is an essential part of the Loue design. Traditionally, the shelter is used with an open fire positioned in front of it, while the rear section provides protection from wind and weather.

FinnRover M94 Corander Loue

The FinnRover M94 is also known as the Corander model. Its dimensions are based on a larger Loue design associated with Nalle Corander and intended for approximately four people.

In the 1990s, Corander played a role in bringing the Loue back into wider use among Finnish outdoor enthusiasts. The M94 continues this chapter in the history of the Finnish Loue.

2-4 person polyester Loue with silver-coated interior

The M94 is made from polyester fabric weighing approximately 130 g/m². The inside surface of the Loue is silver-coated.

The reflective inner surface helps reflect light and radiant heat from the open fire positioned in front of the shelter.

The attachment points are reinforced with leather, forming part of the traditional FinnRover Loue construction.

Larger shelter for 2-4 people

The M94 is designed for approximately 2-4 people. Its height is approximately 330 cm, making it larger than the FinnRover M34, M64 and M16 2-person Loue shelters, which are approximately 285 cm high.

The larger dimensions provide additional room for occupants and equipment.

Easy to pitch without a fixed frame

The upper part of the Loue can be suspended from a suitable tree or branch or supported with a separate pole. The rear section is secured to the ground with stakes.

In traditional use, a suitable long pole found at the campsite can also be used as the main support, reducing the need to carry a separate pole.

Stakes and a support pole are not included unless otherwise stated in the package contents.

Using an open fire with the Loue

The Loue is designed for use in combination with an open fire. Always consider the distance from the fire, wind direction, wind strength and sparks when pitching and using the shelter.

Always follow current wildfire warnings, local regulations and landowner permissions when lighting an open fire.

The history of the Finnish Loue

The FinnRover Loue range continues a long Finnish open-fire shelter tradition. The history of the modern Loue dates back to a shelter developed by A.E. Järvinen in the 1930s. In the 1960s, Kullervo Kemppinen made his own Lapland Loue based on Järvinen’s design.

In the 1990s, Nalle Corander helped bring the Loue back into use among outdoor enthusiasts. The M94 is connected to this later stage of the Loue tradition through Corander’s larger four-person design.
