Fabric – cotton-polyester – a touch of history

The Loue M16 is made from the same fabric used in the old military guerrilla wintwr snow jackets.

What on earth is a loue ?

A loue is an open-fire shelter that is completely open on one side. It provides protection from wind and rain, but allows you to light a fire in front of the loue, making the most of the heat from the fire.  It is possible to install several Loue’s around the same campfire, place the Loue’s around the campfire facing each other.

The loue is easy to set up

You can hang the upper part of the loue on a tree, branch or trekking pole. The base of loue is fixed to the ground with pegs (sold separately). Always pitch up the back of loue to the wind, if possible. This will block most of the wind, and the remaining wind will blow the smoke from the campfire away so smoke will not roll in to loue.

M16 Openfire shelters weight

The M16 loue from Finnrover weighs approximately 2.0 kg, for the material used this is a light loue. You use a long branch from the terrain as a beam for the loue, saving you the hassle of carrying the pole with you.

Genuinely Finnish

The Finnrover Loue is the only truly Finnish open-fire shelter. The Loue is a wedge-shaped cloth which is sewn in a circle at the front and at the back, which is either tuned to a wooden pole or stretched over the top corner of the wood with string. The hemispherical back is fixed to the ground by pegs.

The shaped loue described has been used by forest walkers for more than 80 years. The FinnRover Loue is an exact copy of the original open fire lounge developed by A.E. Järvinen and manufactured by Kullervo Kemppinen.

Key Flag and Design from Finland

FinnRover Louves carry the Avainlippu- and Desing from Finland emblems, a symbol of Finnish work and Finnish design.
